About the Name Changes:
When CWC was founded in 1888, it was named
Colorado Woman's College (with womAN). In 1966,
it was renamed Temple Buell College. After the Temple
Buell College era (1966 - 1973), the board of trustees
voted to revise the use of "woman" in the college name to "women" to emphasize the purpose of CWC - to educate many women.
From the book, Colorado Women's College, The Story of
a Dream
by Professor Wallace B. Turner, "...the Colorado Women's College name described, better than any other
name could, both the college's splendid location and
distinctive function"
.

The CWCAA chose to use the original seal with the
womAN spelling, and the womEN spelling in our title
to honor all of the women who attended the college.
