The
Quilt Project was the idea of Marjorie
Garten Blakeslee,'47.
It was completed by Helen Manka Storbeck,47, in 2002.
Kim Hull machine quilted the
quilt using an original design
by Hull and Storbeck.
The thirty five 12 blocks for
this memory quilt were
constructed by alumnae of Colorado
Womens College.
Many types of needlework are represented, including
Brazilian embroidery, applique, pieced,
counted cross stitch and machine embroidery.
The blocks depict various aspects of campus life in
Denver, as well as the overseas program for students.
The quilt has been exhibited in quilt shows; at the gallery of
the National Quilting Association, Inc. in Ellicott City, MD;
at the Denton Art Center, Arkansas City, KS and at
regional reunion events in various parts of the country. |
