Withdrawal Dates & Deadlines

Students may withdraw from a course using MyWeb at any time before the last week of the end of the quarter without an instructor’s signature.  Students may also call or email an Adviser to ask to drop the course for them.  Adviser contact information is toward the end of this section.

There are four refund levels available to students who need to withdraw. Example: withdrawal from a class for Fall Quarter 2009 for:

100% refund: through September 24, 2009 by 4:30pm
75% refund: September 25 to October 1, 2009 by 4:30pm
50% refund: October 2 to October 4, 2009 by 4:30pm
Zero refund: October 5 through end of term

Withdrawal from a course may affect a student's financial aid. Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid at 303.871.4020 for clarification prior to dropping a course. If you withdraw from a course during the first week of the quarter, you will receive a 100% refund and the course will not appear on your transcript. During the second week of the quarter, the refund is 75% and the grade is recorded as a withdrawal (W) on your transcript. During the third week of the quarter the refund is 50% and the grade is recorded as a withdrawal (W) on your transcript. After that, the refund is 0%, and the grade is recorded as a withdrawal (W) on your transcript.

Reminder:  you have financial responsibility for courses in which you register. Failure to attend a class or pay tuition does not constitute an official drop or cancellation of tuition or associated fees. A student must officially drop a course or an "F" grade will be assigned. Withdrawal after a grade of "F" has been assigned is not an option. Tuition must be paid if a class has not been officially dropped. Students are encouraged to let their instructors know if they withdraw from a class; however, contacting the instructor does not constitute official withdrawal from the course.

The last day to withdraw from any course is four business days before the final class meeting.  A student must have the instructor’s signature on  an Add/Drop Slip to withdraw from any course during this time.

Anyone withdrawing from their last class cannot withdraw online.  To withdraw, call or email one of the advisers at the Student and Community Engagement Office:  Bonnie Hahn at 303-871-6115 | bhahn@du.edu or Carmen Madrid at 303-871-6032 |cmadrid3@du.edu  or go to Room 111 of The Chambers Center.

Any student withdrawing from all classes for the quarter must contact the Student and Community Engagement Office and must also fill out the Withdrawal FormDo not assume that you have been withdrawn from a course for missing the payment deadline, telling the instructor you are dropping, or for not attending class.  You must call the Student and Community Engagement Office to ensure that you are properly withdrawn. Please feel free to contact them with any questions.
