WebCentral
WebCentral is your portal to on-line services at the University of Denver. You will access your personal email account, classroom tools (Blackboard), registration services (MyWeb), and a host of other DU services through this gateway. WebCentral is accessible wherever you have connectivity to the Internet. The log-in is secure, so you can make transactions with the University with confidence. You will use your DU ID number and passcode (defaulted to your birthday, MMDDYY, the first time you log-in) to access this portal. Experience WebCentral »
Pioneer Resource Center
The Pioneer Resource Center (PRC) located in the Chambers Center (room #290) is maintained as the computer lab for The Women's College. The PRC is equipped with 21 workstations including 2 iMacs and boasts an impressive array of software applications. Public printing and technical help are available during most class sessions. The PRC is available to all students of The Women's College and in addition, during open lab hours, the lab is staffed by experienced tutors.
Individual Computer Account
Upon registration, each student at The Women's College receives her own DU computer account, which provides an e-mail address and Internet access. You will receive a letter detailing the terms of this account and directions to use the off-campus dial-up access. Students can access their DU e-mail accounts online through the DU Web site or can consolidate their e-mail by forwarding their DU e-mail to a different e-mail address. The account is available to current students at the University for personal and non-commercial activities only. DU's Offices of the Registrar and Student Financial Aid send important and timely e-mails to students only at their DU e-mail accounts.
Computer Support and Service
Support is available in the Pioneer Resource Center during most class sessions or by appointment by calling 303-871-6877. University Technology Services (UTS) can assist students via phone, e-mail, in person, or online. UTS is committed to providing students with accessible and timely assistance for all computer-related questions. The UTS phone is 303-871-4700 or walk in assistance is available in Penrose Library.
General Computing Classes
The UTS student training program offers a variety of courses to accommodate the specific needs of DU students. The goal of these courses is to help students become familiar with various software applications and to assist them in meeting course requirements. Courses are available free of charge to all students who have a DU ID number.
Purchasing a Personal Computer and Software
Many of our students enjoy the convenience of a home computer. (The Women's College does not recommend a laptop.) However, if you wish to purchase a computer, we strongly encourage that you buy a laptop.
All DU students are eligible to receive academic discounts when purchasing a new computer from select retailers. The University has formed alliances with several computer manufacturers. Visit Laptops and Learning Page »
Currently enrolled students may buy computer software at substantial educational discounts from the DU Bookstore. Please visit their Web site or stop by the store in the Driscoll Center for current product pricing and information.
The Great Computer Giveaway is a program whereby students of The Women's College who do not currently own a home computer (or own one so old it cannot run current software) are given donated used computers. Our Women in Information Technology Studies student organization works to refurbish these machines and matches students with computers as machines become available. View Application »
