We Were
By Sharlene Woodruff, TWC Student
You were everything and
Everything was you...
Once upon a time we were so in love
I'd found my soul mate and that's all there was
Remember how hard we fell for each other
There wasn't enough time in a day to be together
Taking long rides holding hands on the beach
Not loving you never occurred to me
I remember your skin melting into mine
Do U remember those late nights as the moon
watched us shine
Your kisses were like passion soft yet intensified
When we made love, at times we both cried
When you looked into my eyes it would pierce my soul
A love so fine something to behold
Once upon a time we were.

New Moon
By Faith L. Dallas, TWC Student
New moon, cold and dark,
Pocked silver sphere,
Retrain my heart,
Love is gone,
Dream is gone,
Hope is gone,
He is gone,
Cold silver sphere,
Retrain my heart. |
Just Vote
By Sharlene Woodruff, TWC Student
America
Put your hands in the air
And pump your fists
There ain’t never been a time
A time like this
Where all kinds of people from across the land
Come together to vote for this one man
Barack Obama he changed the game
Yeah, it took a few minutes to pronounce his name
But when he spoke to the people back in 2004
Something clicked in our minds and it opened doors
To the possibility that we can see
The first black President in our history
Here we are four years later
He took Democracy and made it greater
He began a movement and we came on board
So let’s give him our vote and help him soar
In the White House is where he dreams to be
This brother wants the best for you and me
His brilliance, resilience and tenacity
People feeling his spirit all over the country
Black, Brown or White it shouldn’t matter now
The content of his character has showed us how
As we celebrate “The Dream” forty years later
Now we have a chance to make America greater
So put your hands in the air
And pump your fists
There ain’t never been a time
A time like this
Vote 4 Barack Obama/Joe Biden 2008

Let It Go...
By Sharlene Woodruff, TWC Student
When U love someone set them free
And yourself while you’re at it
As it says in all the love songs
Let it go
Gotta figure out how to let U go
Completely absolutely
Residual feelings’ taken hold for now
And for some reason it makes me
Wanna hold on to what I’m not sure
But I can’t or I won’t
I shouldn’t so I don’t
But then it comes right back
It’s pointless
I really know
This ain’t no show
I can get really get my heart broke
It ain’t no joke
Gotta let it go

Fall Waning at Arsenal
By Faith L. Dallas, TWC Student
Hot days, cool nights.
Morning misty shadows blanket ground.
Dry, brown, brittle grasses trampled.
Bare bushes, naked trees, empty creeks.
Yellow headed rabbit brush, gray sage.
Miner’s torch seeded heads stand sentry.
Marsh cattails explode, blackbirds flee.
Avian migratories pause, eagles arrive.
Water fowl linger, blue heron fishes.
Bucks parade, does watch.
The Arsenal surrenders. |
